Grunge

I like adding these cool effects in Photoshop. I think they can breath new life into pictures and make them interesting to look at.
This picture I took this spring of a old house up by Driggs, Idaho. I added a texture picture of gravel and reduced the opacity along with a color overlay and a brushed boarder.

For this edit, I placed a texture inside of the text and added shadows and inner glows. This would be fun to make a custom signature or to add some personality to the picture.

Landscape

I have waited until the light is right on many photo shoots. Most of the time it is in the evening, from 6:45-7:30 pm. I shot half of my photos a little earlier than this prime time, but I like the way they turned out. For the other half of my pictures, I decided to get up before the sun rose and take some pictures in the morning (from 6:30 to about 8:00 am). It was a new experience waiting for enough light instead of hurrying before the light fades. I loved shooting just before the sun came up because of the perfect gradient the sky made. Then there was about 10 minutes where the sky was blown out white, until the sun first peaked over the mountains, then the world lit up. I couldn't believe that every second for about 10 minutes, the light changed dramatically. It was a great experience and I can't wait to go shoot in the morning again.

I'm not sure if this counts as a Landscape picture. I don't know if you can have buildings in landscapes, but I liked this picture.

Cut Out

Using the quick selection tool and some feathering with a slight shadow, I cut out this image in Photoshop. This will be an easy image to cut out the white and will look realistic if pasted onto another picture.

Color Study: Purple

What a great way to open my eyes to a specific color! Not only did I try to find different ways to shoot purple items, I tried to get around the same hues of purple. I was able to succeed in this, even if I had to touch a few of the photos up in photoshop. Thinking that purple would be a different color to try to capture and not too easy to find, I was amazed to find that there were many purple things! And so many different hues and shades of purple. What a great project to learn how to shoot different items in different times of the day.
