Luminousity

What a fun edit! I loved learning how to do this. I think that it could come in handy when making a poster or something that needs some strong design elements. I loved playing with fonts and the different letters in the word. This is a fun tutorial and turned out some great edits.

Portraits

This was a great project for me. I like taking snap shots of people, but I have never taken portraits. It was fun to think about what would make a good shot and make it happen.
I was working on the grounds crew when we got this shot. Becca has some great blue eyes that really pop in the orange and yellows of the leaves. Plus, she had a great time jumping in leaves for me.

My husband and I were up early this weekend and I got this shot right after sunrise. I liked how the sun lit up different parts of his face and that the sky was nice and blue and not blown out behind him. Morning is a great time to take some amazing shots.

I liked taking pictures of my cousin Taylor because she has some really great expressions, but it was hard to make a two year old sit still for very long! I finally had to wait until she was tired, and I got some precious shots. She is such a cute girl.

Edge Effects

I enjoyed playing with some of my pictures and finding good boarders to come with them. With the bridal picture, I did not take the picture (because it's a picture of me), but Lavinda Hedman from Forever Yours Photography did. She did a great job.
I did a painted on look with a few different paint brushes at different opacities with a double boarder to make this picture pop. I matched the colors of the boarders with the brightest and darkest colors in the picture. Adding text in the boarder with my new last name and my wedding date really finished this picture off.

This was a picture I took in Bannock. With a double faded boarder, it really set off the sharpness of the photo and the blur of the background.

Lights at Night

Whew! Getting married in the middle of the semester is not something I would recommend! But we did it and I'm back from my honeymoon now. Time to play catch-up on my photos.
My family loves fireworks. The night before my wedding, we decided to light off a bunch of them and have a little bit of a party with both me and Dave's family. It was really fun, but I was torn between the excitement of lighting off the fireworks, and standing back to take some pictures. As a result of trying to do both, I only got a few good pictures. But then I had Dave write his name with sparklers and took some interesting pictures of his nephew. I hope that when things calm down a little bit in my life, I will be able to explore this technique a little better.

HDR Photos

First step to making a HDR photo is taking three pictures. One picture is under exposed, one is correctly exposed, one is over exposed. The HDR program compiles these three pictures together to create a high definition photo that looks great. Enjoy these pictures from Bannock, Montana.

Best of Bannock Montana

I noticed a definite trend in my picture taking through the trip to Bannock. I liked the close up abstract shots. But I did get a few good ghost shots and a good portrait. Thanks Bre for helping me out and being a fantastic model! This trip was so fun and I was so glad to have the opportunity to take a whole day and devote it to shooting great shots. Thanks Sister Esplin for making this trip so fun and educational.

Photo Finishing

This picture is edited using the sharpen and blur filer on different layers and using a few adjustment layers. Using a mask, I painted over the parts I wanted blurred or sharpened. The I added a burned boarder and blurred it and reduced the opacity. I think it really brings out the focus on the picture and makes the picture really stand out.

Flora and Fauna

What a great assignment. It was great to have an excuse to go to the Hogle Zoo while we were in Utah. We also decided to go to the Aquarium and we got some great shots. The biggest challenge for these shots was the lighting. The weather wasn't really cooperating very well. Lucky we have photo shots because I was able to increase the saturation on the Monkey picture and it turns out looking great!
